Show ``Common Stories``
(Joya Brava) 2017
The stocking stitch aIways run at the worst moment. I frame, encapsulate, and froze the moment; I immortalize it in a gem. I heal this textile wound. A daily accident and a female repair. Manifest of creativity, rescue and recovery. I recreate this poetic improvisation that leaves a stencil on the skin, a pattern, an involuntary design. I make an ode to that textile scar, to that second skin and, symbolically, to the scars of our own skin. Scars as windows of light.
